Mission and Corporate Philosophy
We believe that our mission of public benefit as a Japanese energy company is to provide a stable supply of internationally competitive energy (gas, electricity, etc.) in order to contribute to the strengthening of Japanese industrial competitiveness and provide similar benefits to our country. It is essential that we create a globally competitive energy company in order to perform this mission as a Japanese energy company amid the intense competition for obtaining global resources. TEPCO Fuel & Power and Chubu Electric Power jointly established JERA Co., Inc. in order to achieve our mission of public benefit by providing a stable supply of globally competitive energy and also improve the corporate value of both companies.
1. Create a Global Energy Company
JERA shall provide consumers with a stable supply of globally competitive energy (electricity, gas, etc.) and also improve the corporate value of both TEPCO Fuel & Power and Chubu Electric Power in the spirit of equality and compromise by creating a global energy company able to compete in an equal manner with rival companies in the international energy market and expanding fair competition in Japan, given the characteristics of Japan as a country of limited resources.
2. Creating a New Energy Company Model
The joining together of the excellent technology, personnel, facilities, and other management resources of both companies shall be used to create a new energy business model, and also to provide JERA with an independent corporate culture, as well as extremely healthy management and financial structures that are trusted by the market. This will enable JERA to be a company with a unique business operations and a management system that enables prompt decision-making.
3. Strengthening the Overall Value Chain
JERA shall increase efficiency, improve competitiveness, and pursue profits for all our operations in all business areas of the supply chain from fuel upstream and procurement to power generation and sales of electricity and gas by making use of the management resources of other companies through M&A and similar actions to grow the company while also managing the entire supply chain in a comprehensive and optimal manner.
